Shanto XI go on top of the table after registering a big victory by 131 runs against Mahmudullah XI in the fourth match of the tournament.
After a brilliant knock of 98 by Afif Hossain, 52 by Mushfiqur and an unbeaten of 48* from Irfan Sukkur, the bowlers did their part in a dominating fashion which sealed a huge victory for Shanto XI in the end. Earlier, after getting to bat first Shanto XI were in all sorts of trouble with 31/3.
Then came Afif hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim, who repaired the early damaged and built a hundred-run partnership. Tawhid Hrdoy and Irfan Sukkur finished the innings well for them and took them to a huge total of 264 runs. Rubel Hossain had another good day with the bowl as he picked up three wickets while Ebadot Hossain picked up two.
In reply, Mahmudullah were in a spot of bother right from the word go. Imrul Kayes was the first man to depart. Opener Liton Das was looking in good touch for the first time in this tournament, but failed to make the innings big as he departed for 27 from 28 balls.
It was yet another failure for Imrul Kayes (4) and Sabbir Hossain (10) with the bat. The bowlers were in top form for Shanto XI. Despite not getting any wicket, Taskin was terrifically economical with the bowl. Nasum Ahmed and Abu Jayed Rahi picked up three wickets each while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain chipped in with two wickets.
